Last year, I made a goal that I would do at least one 5k a month and with the helpful motivation of many friends, especially my asian partner in crime, K, I surpassed my goal. I fell in love with 5k's. I really thought that doing one a month would motivate me to workout more, but it did not. So this year, I have the same goal, but with the caveat that I need to be running parts of the 5k's by spring and run a whole 5k by the end of the year. This. Is. Happening. I am determined to do this. And I kicked off the year with the Polar Dash!
Every 5k I start, I often wonder what the hell I signed up for because most races are early or in the winter it is just so damn cold. But I reach the end and I get my medal and/or free food and I am like a crack addict. I want to do another race ASAP. They do get expensive, but it is such a positive atmosphere. I don't see a lot of crabby people at the 5k's and they are all usually pretty motivating. I swore I would never run a 5k because it hard on my knee's because of my weight and now I am just itching for the day that I can run it all.
Today also started the 30 day challenge. Background: I was running through my newsfeed on FB, I noticed an exercise jpeg posted to my cousin W's wall. Like this one:
I thought it looked interesting and easy, so I clicked on the link and it brought me to her friends page, who is a Beachbody Coach, Krystal Gilsrud. I got FB creepy and looked through all her daily challenges for the month and thought it would be great to try. I did not request her to be my FB friend because I hate to say I will do something and then disappoint by not doing it, so for now I am just that weirdo that went through a complete strangers FB page and found some great exercises. Even better, her December challenge was call Jingle Bellies and I think it is going to be fantastic.
My SIL is going to do it with me this month...it get progressively crazy town so I am nervous. I am putting up the picture of what the challenge consists of unless or until Krystal asks me to take it down. I feel like I should say something to her now that I am blogging about it, but a whole five people read my blog so I doubt she will even find out about it, but I want to give her credit, so I am adding her as a label.
Also while stalking her page, I found out that there was a new P90x! More on that when I actually start that one. I have to wait until M is back from Alaska because he was also pretty pumped about it. So day 1 of the new year has been fantastic. I am super excited for 2014.
