Check with your doctor...

So with every workout routine on the planet, there is a warning: Check with your doctor before attempting this workout...guess I should have done that. Although, in hind sight I most likely would not have gone anyway since I don't have health insurance. Plus, at 31, and no pre-existing health conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, I thought I would be fine. (By the way, the whole frickin reason I started was to eliminate or at least decrease my risk of the aforementioned conditions.) The problem is that I am uncoordinated and slightly stupid. (I was going to say retarded, but some people take offense.) About two months ago I heard some grinding coming from my knee. It didn't hurt, so I just thought, "Once, I get health insurance I should check that out." I thought it was probably from the extra weight I was carrying, so...I should workout! Not just workout, but P90x. Seriously...stupid. Surprisingly, the Yoga X destroyed my knee. Weird, I know.

So I pondered the past few weeks with what to do. Regardless of what is wrong with my knee I still have to lose weight. So, I asked a friend of mine about doing some modified Yoga. I look at his pictures on Facebook and can't even dream of contorting my body into half of the positions he does. In fact, I am just happy to be able to do the plank position. At any rate, I asked Alex for help and he sent me a link to a site that is probably for the elderly, but he promised that it should be challenging for me. Shameless plug for my friend who is a fabulous Yoga instructor in Los Angeles.

So I will be checking out the site he recommended and also looking at building some other routines. In the meantime I guess I am just going to walk on the treadmill as long a my knee holds up. I rested it long enough, so I think that walking should not be too bad. I am going to pull out the old Bosu and balance ball and find out what magic or calamity I will be able to conjure up for my workout routines. But I will still blog about it here to hold me accountable. It might even be more interesting, we'll see. Wish me luck, as I seem to injure myself doing simple things...
